How much does a plumber cost in Calgary?

DMS charges a flat service call fee of $125 which includes diagnosis and the first 30 minutes of labour. Most standard repairs (leak repair, drain cleaning, faucet replacement) range from $150–$350. We always provide a written quote before starting any work — no surprises.

No. Written estimates are always free. We'll diagnose the issue and give you an upfront price before any work begins. You're never obligated to proceed.

Are there hidden fees or extra charges?

Never. We quote the job in full before we start — parts, labour, and GST included. The price we quote is the price you pay. The only exception is if additional issues are discovered during the job, which we'd always discuss with you first.

Do you offer payment plans or financing?

How quickly can you come out?

For emergencies, we aim to be on-site within 1–2 hours anywhere in Calgary. For regular bookings, we typically have availability within 1–3 business days. Same-day appointments are often available — call to check.

We serve all of Calgary (NW, SW, NE, SE, and central) plus surrounding areas including Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, Okotoks, and Strathmore. A travel fee may apply for areas outside Calgary.

Yes. Daniel Bahta holds a Red Seal Journeyman Plumber and Gas Fitter certification — Canada's highest trade qualification. DMS is fully licensed in Alberta and carries comprehensive liability insurance. We're also WCB covered.

What is a Red Seal certification?

The Red Seal (Interprovincial Standards) is the gold standard for skilled trades in Canada. It means the tradesperson has passed a national certification exam demonstrating mastery of their trade. It's the highest level of plumbing and gas fitting qualification available in Canada.

Do you warranty your work?

Yes. All labour is warranted for 1 year from the date of completion. Manufacturer warranties apply to parts and equipment. If anything we installed or repaired fails due to workmanship, we'll come back and fix it at no charge.

My drain is slow but not fully blocked — should I call a plumber?

Accepted Answer

Yes, sooner rather than later. A slow drain usually means a partial blockage that will get worse. Catching it early is cheaper than dealing with a full backup or pipe damage. We can camera-inspect the line to find the exact cause.

How do I know if I have a water leak?

Signs of a hidden leak include: unexplained increases in your water bill, damp spots on walls or ceilings, mould smell, or the sound of running water when nothing is on. If you suspect a leak, call us — early detection saves major water damage.

How long does a water heater last?

Tank water heaters typically last 8–12 years. Tankless units can last 15–20 years with proper maintenance. If yours is over 10 years old and showing signs of rust, leaks, or inconsistent hot water, it's worth getting it inspected.

Can I add a bathroom to my basement?

Absolutely. Basement bathroom additions are one of our most common jobs. We handle the full rough-in — floor drain, toilet, shower, and sink plumbing — and coordinate with your contractor for finishing. Permits are included.

My furnace isn't heating properly — what should I check first?

Start with: (1) Is the thermostat set to heat and above room temperature? (2) Is the furnace filter clean? A clogged filter is the #1 cause of furnace problems. (3) Is the gas supply on? If you've checked all three and it's still not working, call us.

I smell gas in my home — what do I do?

Leave immediately. Don't turn any lights or switches on or off. Don't use your phone inside. Once outside, call 911 and then your gas utility (ATCO Gas: 1-800-511-3447). Do not re-enter until cleared by emergency services. Then call DMS to locate and repair the source.

Can I install my own gas appliances?

In Alberta, gas work must be performed by a licensed gas fitter. Installing your own gas line or appliance is illegal and dangerous. It also voids home insurance. DMS can connect any gas appliance — BBQs, ranges, dryers, fireplaces, generators — safely and to code.

How often should my furnace be serviced?

We recommend annual maintenance — ideally in fall before heating season. Regular tune-ups catch small issues before they become expensive failures, extend equipment life, and are often required to maintain your manufacturer warranty.
